It is a future time, when brain-based cybernetic computers are all but universal throughout humanity. A computer virus of unprecedented potency has swept across the globe, laying waste to technology and leaving half the world's population dead. The other half are neither dead nor alive - they are zombies, reanimated not by witchcraft, but by the virus infecting their brainware.
David Lawney - an acybernetic, whose body inexplicably rejected brainware as a child - has survived the disaster in a London now teeming with horrors. Haunted by memories of society's mistreatment of his kind, living in constant fear of a gruesome death, somehow David must find the strength and courage needed to protect a fellow survivor, a young boy, whose existence may hold the key to the only remaining record of all human history.
[NOTE Intended for a mature audience. Contains mature themes, violence and M/M romance.]

How is it that there are only two reviews of this incredibly good book, as it has been on the market since December 2014? What a find! Another reviewer was right when he called this writer brilliant. This is a beautiful story of love and redemption set in a future time after a cybernetic virus turns cybernetically altered humans (99.9 percent of the human race) into mindless, aggressive automotons. A single man whose body had rejected all cybernetic implants survives in a London wasteland overrun with zombie-like creatures. At a low point in his desperate and lonely life, he rescues a child whose innocence and dependence awaken in him new purpose and for whom he develops a deep, fatherly, protective love. The story takes the reader into their suspenseful world where moments of normalcy play out against a backdrop of horror. At midpoint in the narrative and at an opportune moment, a former soldier arrives on the scene, changing the dynamics with his quiet nobility and calm expertise. As the trio set off to escape London, they find new and terrifying surprises await them that have bearing on whether they can keep the child safe from outliners, zombie hordes, or a mysterious group of survivors who live on a ship in the Atlantic. What sets this book apart from most in this genre is that it is character driven in the best possible way and is beautifully written. The writer is a master of the written word, even if he has only two books under his belt. LIGHT SPOILER: There develops an unexpected (to the characters and to the reader) romantic connection between the two male adults that is written in a seamless, subtle, tasteful manner that in no way interferes with the story or bogs down the narrative. No flaming love scenes or anything of that sort.
Best book I've read in a while. I hope to see more from this writer.

Doomware eBook Nathan Kuzack Reviews
I loved this! Great story and with very great detail. The ONLY thing I would say is that the first few chapters may have been drawn out. (But I suppose you can compare it to how the protagonist would feel being stuck in the same lifestyle for doo long and what he endured daily)
And lastly of course...... the fact that I can't continue reading because there is not a second release of this title!
But... back to the review ( the narrator put great detail into this book. It's a new concept and something completely new versus the typical zombie or killer robots we always see. This book is probably primarily for more adept readers. I noticed many times that difficult words and references were made when they may not have really needed to. At least not to that level of a word. (I myself even had to use kindle dictionary on occasion)
But kudos to the author. You my friend did an amazing job and I love the fact that it wasn't another action packed erotica. Haha. Hope to read a second one very soon!
There are a few spoilers
This was well written, for the most part, with a lot of references to the arts and current events. It's set in the distant future with realistic explanations of how people and environment have evolved, mostly. The author clearly did a lot of research to make this story believable medically and electronically. His characters are believable and adequately explained.
What I have reservations about is the obvious isolation of the main character and how there is no interaction with anyone who is in a similar medical situation, until almost the end. It would be realistic to assume that 10% of the population would be like him and not be of a criminal persuasion. His limited interactions are with a minor, which makes him extremely introspective. Excessively, for 10 pages at a time, introspective. Action events that could have been excitingly described and moved the story along faster, are filled with pages of his boring introspection. Screeching to a halt boring fight scenes. These characters are supposed to be fighting for their lives and David goes on for pages with his introspection in the middle of his attemped murder. I realize this author is Brittish, but a fight to the death shouldn't be boring. Skipping over pages of this guys Orwellian philosophy was my solution.
The other adult MC doesn't show up until the book is over the halfway point.
I've read a few reviews that screamed "OMG THEY HOOKED UP!" Ummmm yeah..., The year is probably 3050 and these two adults seem to be the only healthy, non-criminal, humans left on the planet, so hooking up seems realistic. Strangely, The author seems to be uncomfortable with the concept of bisexuality, which given the fact that these guys are centuries old, people of this millenia would have no reservations exploring this part of sexuality.
On a similar issue, the concepts of god and religion are almost glaringly ignored. It seems one character believes and the other is introspectively ambiguous.
Because the author showed a lot of effort in his research and this novel was well edited (there were a few rough spots of confusion) I think a 3.5 is a realistic rating.
